Gorilla & Volcanoes of Congo Tour​

6 Days Tour

GORILLA & VOLCANOES

Day One

Arrive at Kanombe, Kigali or Goma Airport. Drive to Kivu Lodge. If you arrive in time, you can do canoeing on Lake Kivu and also visit fishermen villages.

Day Two

Early wake up head to Kibumba for gorilla trekking inside Virunga National Park. The trekking will start at 8.00, rangers will brief visitors about the gorilla family you are going to track. Trekking can takes from 3 to 6 hours. Travelers need to wear good boots and bring a rain jacket. Gorilla tracking is physically demanding, and you should be well prepared. Hiring a porter could be helpful and you will be grateful for the support. After trekking visit the pygmies community.

Day Three

Drive to Rumangabo Forest for chimpanzee trekking. The trekking will take from 3 to 5 hours on a prevalently flat terrain. The level of difficulty is low but visitors should wear good boots and have with them a rain jacket. After trekking visit the coffee farm and have an experience of what farmers go through to produce the organic coffee.

​Day Four & Five

Hiking of Mt. Nyiragongo. Here you are given a bag for night cold equipment and a team to hiking with. You are also given a private cook for your meals. Return late and stay at Kivu Lodge.


Day 1
Hiking starts at 10.00 am at Kabati station and it takes about 5 hours to reach the summit or the Nyiragongo view point. All the accommodation along the way is in tents.


Day 2
After Nyiragongo summit breakfast you start descending at 6.30 am to the bottom of the mountain and it takes 3 hours. Here your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to Goma.

Day Six

​Transfer back to the Airport.

  • Guide (including accommodation and meals costs for him)
  • Accommodation (guest house and other budget solutions)
  • Park fees ($40 per person for 24h for every park visited), boat trips and social activities

WHAT TRANSPORT DO YOU USE?
4WD Toyota Land Cruisers. These are our own cars and drivers. The cars are well maintained and our drivers are experienced and English speaking Ugandans.
